Michael
After spending two-thirds of our lives together, separating my life from my wife’s isn’t easy. We were both born in Oregon, but Dee Anne grew up a missionary kid (MK) in Nigeria, West Africa, while I grew up in the Coast Range between Portland and Tillamook. We both came to faith in our late teens through the influence of friends. After marrying (40 happy years ago!) and completing degrees in teaching English, the Lord directed us to Japan, where we were self-supporting missionaries for 7 years. Working with a local church there, our outreach focused on our students and neighbors. After returning to Portland, we volunteered with Compassion Connect for many years as the Footcare Team. I continue to teach English to college-age international students. We still have a heart for students, Nigeria, Japan, and making the Lord Jesus known around the globe through cross-cultural missions. The worldwide Persecuted Church has also become very dear to us. We’re excited to be part of the One H.O.P.E. church body, a warm and friendly congregation in our neighborhood!
